The Proposal
Lynette Ouna and David Oertner met through Match.com in 2017. The proposal came five years later when David unexpectedly dropped to one knee during family photos for Thanksgiving. Joyful surprise was mixed with uncertainty since the pandemic still presented an impediment to making plans.
The Big Day
Their wedding took place surrounded by friends and family. David and Lynette’s children made up the members of their wedding party, with Lynette’s daughter acting as maid of honor and David’s son as best man. Their grandchildren graced the procession as flower girls, and Lynette’s adult children had the honor of walking her down the aisle. Shortly after the mother-son dance had begun, the couple’s sons and daughters joined in with their spouses, celebrating the enduring love of generations. Though they came from vastly different cultures on opposite ends of the world (Lynette is originally from Nairobi, Kenya), the two built an unbreakable bond, and now, their story continues.
