Top Food and Experiences in the Lehigh Valley This Week
1. Moravian Sugar Cake Ice Cream Sundae
Yet another occurrence of two fabulous desserts paired together as one. It doesn’t get much more classic than a Moravian Sugar Cake, but then you pile it with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry and you’ve got a mountain of decadence on your hands. Next time you’re taking a stroll down Main Street Bethlehem, stop over at Hotel Bethlehem’s Ice Cream Parlor for this treat and so many more—they’re the Valley’s only spot featuring Penn State Creamery ice cream.
2. De Novo Creamery
It’s all about desserts this week and we hope you’re not mad about it! This particular dessert, however, is 100 percent vegan and made in small batches so it’s something to feel good about. Only offering pick-up and delivery, you can DM De Novo on Instagram to place an order and pay through Venmo. They create four gourmet flavors each month that you can choose from with delivery available on the weekends. To get an idea of what flavors to expect, their recent flavor for April was “Breakfast in Bed” featuring silky espresso ice cream, French Toast Girl Scout Cookie Crumble, walnuts and bananas laced with maple stout swirl—WOAH.
3. Lehigh Valley Rose Society
Calling all lovers of roses! The Lehigh Valley Rose Society celebrates all things roses as a local nonprofit organization formed to promote and encourage and educate on rose horticulture throughout the Lehigh Valley. Rose enthusiasts are encouraged to become members to enjoy private garden tours, a summer wine and roses garden party and the opportunity to meet fellow rose lovers! The Lehigh Valley Rose Society is also dedicated to revitalizing the Bethlehem Rose Garden and encourages volunteers to assist with tending to the garden on a weekly basis. You can also purchase society gear as well as rose-flavored teas and products on their website in support of the organization.
4. Secluded Dining at Maxim’s 22
If you’re still not quite comfortable dining indoors in close proximity to other patrons, we suggest checking out Maxim’s 22 private booth dining featuring a total French speakeasy vibe in a curtained off booth. Perfect for date night or a night out with friends, you’ll get to enjoy the total Maxim’s atmosphere and French-inspired menu while still feeling safe and comfortable.
5. Seven-inch Cookie
Pretty sure “seven-inch cookie” speaks for itself but to give you a little more insight, this ginormous chocolate chip cookie is available at MAC Pizza & Wings just across the bridge in Phillipsburg, NJ. This warm $10 cookie is obviously meant to be shared, but if you’re feeling up for the eating challenge, you do you and maybe pair it with one of their takeout gelatos?
